Simon McDonald approached Tuskany Agency to assist with the Marketing Strategy and PR for the Hawaiki Rising Voyaging Trust; a charitable trust that runs youth development voyages on their 22m double-hulled Waka. Many of the children who will partake in these voyages will come from difficult backgrounds and this is a fantastic opportunity for these children to learn to believe in themselves. Not dissimilar to the Spirit of Adventure, voyages combine teamwork, learning and fun.
Naturally we were thrilled to be able to assist with this project, especially as we were able to watch just how significant the impact of attending a voyage could be for these young people.
We set to work immediately creating a multifaceted media pack which was then used to ensure the trusts story made the headlines. Following this we set to work, approaching all of our contacts in the media world and developing new relationships as we went.
In just the first few days the story was picked up by NZ Boating Magazine who ran a feature on the trust in their May issue, followed by NZ Business Magazine who ran a cover story in their June issue along with local media coverage. PR opportunities are continuing to be realised as we write….
