Why Have a Website

A recent survey of 1000 companies by MYOB, showed once again that businesses with a website and online presence tend to perform better and generate more revenue than those without. However it also showed that only a third of businesses surveyed owned a website, with Manufacturers leading the stats on 50%, ahead of retail and hospitality on 48%. . Other interesting stats from the survey included:

• 44% of businesses with a website had more sales in the pipeline, compared with 30% of businesses that don't operate online.

• 37% of businesses with a website said they had posted an increase in revenue, against 28% that had not adopted the technology.

• SMEs were the most active online, with 68% owning a website.

• Only 20% of businesses surveys were selling online

• And most alarmingly just 14% of businesses used social media (22% of those were under 40 and 11% aged over 40).

Given the low cost of social media it makes no sense that so few companies are harnessing the power of social media.
